Ayke van Laethem 3f8a110e4a runtime: move mainExited boolean
This variable is only necessary on the cooperative and none scheduler.
It is not used on the threads scheduler.

The reason for moving is that the upcoming multicore baremetal scheduler
also needs mainExited but of a different type: an atomic variable
instead of a plain boolean.

Ayke van Laethem 07c7eff3c3 runtime: add FIPS helper functions
Not entirely sure what they're for, but the Go runtime also stores this
information per goroutine so let's go with that.

Ayke van Laethem d1fe02df23 runtime: move scheduler code around
This moves all scheduler code into a separate file that is only compiled
when there's a scheduler in use (the tasks or asyncify scheduler, which
are both cooperative). The main goal of this change is to make it easier
to add a new "scheduler" based on OS threads.

It also fixes a few subtle issues with `-gc=none`:

  - Gosched() panicked. This is now fixed to just return immediately
    (the only logical thing to do when there's only one goroutine).
  - Timers aren't supported without a scheduler, but the relevant code
    was still present and would happily add a timer to the queue. It
    just never ran. So now it exits with a runtime error, similar to any
    blocking operation.

Ayke van Laethem 04a7baec3e wasm: support //go:wasmexport functions after a call to time.Sleep
This fixes a bug where `//go:wasmexport` functions would not be allowed
anymore after a call to `time.Sleep` (when using `-buildmode=default`).

Ayke van Laethem 2f9e39e21c runtime: remove minSched hack for wasm
I am not entirely sure what it's doing (it seems related to js.FuncOf),
but tests still seem to pass when this code is removed. So let's remove
it.

Ayke 9da8b5c786 wasm: add //go:wasmexport support (#4451)
This adds support for the `//go:wasmexport` pragma as proposed here:
https://github.com/golang/go/issues/65199

It is currently implemented only for wasip1 and wasm-unknown, but it is
certainly possible to extend it to other targets like GOOS=js and
wasip2.

Kenneth Bell 24b45555bd runtime: add support for time.NewTimer and time.NewTicker
This commit adds support for time.NewTimer and time.NewTicker. It also
adds support for the Stop() method on time.Timer, but doesn't (yet) add
support for the Reset() method.

The implementation has been carefully written so that programs that
don't use these timers will normally not see an increase in RAM or
binary size. None of the examples in the drivers repo change as a result
of this commit. This comes at the cost of slightly more complex code and
possibly slower execution of the timers when they are used.

Ayke van Laethem c7a23183e8 all: format code according to Go 1.19 rules
Go 1.19 started reformatting code in a way that makes it more obvious
how it will be rendered on pkg.go.dev. It gets it almost right, but not
entirely. Therefore, I had to modify some of the comments so that they
are formatted correctly.

Nia Waldvogel 641dcd7c16 internal/task: use asyncify on webassembly
This change implements a new "scheduler" for WebAssembly using binaryen's asyncify transform.
This is more reliable than the current "coroutines" transform, and works with non-Go code in the call stack.

runtime (js/wasm): handle scheduler nesting

If WASM calls into JS which calls back into WASM, it is possible for the scheduler to nest.
The event from the callback must be handled immediately, so the task cannot simply be deferred to the outer scheduler.
This creates a minimal scheduler loop which is used to handle such nesting.

Ayke van Laethem 8cd2a462b9 runtime: remove the asyncScheduler constant
There is no reason to specialize this per chip as it is only ever used
for JavaScript. Not only that, it is causing confusion and is yet
another quirk to learn when porting the runtime to a new
microcontroller.

Ayke van Laethem 3c55689566 runtime: refactor time handling
This commit refactors both determining the current time and sleeping for
a given time. It also improves precision for many chips.

  * The nrf chips had a long-standing TODO comment about a slightly
    inaccurate clock. This should now be fixed.
  * The SAM D2x/D5x chips may have a slightly more accurate clock,
    although probably within the error margin of the RTC. Also, by
    working with RTC ticks and converting in the least number of places,
    code size is often slightly reduced (usually just a few bytes, up to
    around 1kB in some cases).
  * I believe the HiFive1 rev B timer was slightly wrong (32768Hz vs
    30517.6Hz). Because the datasheet says the clock runs at 32768Hz,
    I've used the same conversion code here as in the nrf and sam cases.
  * I couldn't test both stm32 timers, so I kept them as they currently
    are. It may be possible to make them more efficient by using the
    native tick frequency instead of using microseconds everywhere.

Ayke van Laethem 542135c357 compiler,runtime: implement stack-based scheduler
This scheduler is intended to live along the (stackless) coroutine based
scheduler which is needed for WebAssembly and unsupported platforms. The
stack based scheduler is somewhat simpler in implementation as it does
not require full program transform passes and supports things like
function pointers and interface methods out of the box with no changes.

Code size is reduced in most cases, even in the case where no scheduler
scheduler is used at all. I'm not exactly sure why but these changes
likely allowed some further optimizations somewhere. Even RAM is
slightly reduced, perhaps some global was elminated in the process as
well.

Ayke van Laethem 562ad740da compiler: make runtime.makeGoroutine AVR compatible
Previously it would use a bitcast, which cannot directly be used on AVR
because functions live in a different address space on AVR. To fix this,
use a ptrtoint/inttoptr pair.

This allows testdata/coroutines.go to be compiled, but due to what
appears to be an LLVM bug cannot be optimized and codegen'ed:

    tinygo: /home/ayke/src/github.com/tinygo-org/tinygo/llvm-project/llvm/lib/IR/Constants.cpp:1776: static llvm::Constant *llvm::ConstantExpr::getBitCast(llvm::Constant *, llvm::Type *, bool): Assertion `CastInst::castIsValid(Instruction::BitCast, C, DstTy) && "Invalid constantexpr bitcast!"' failed.

This happens as one of the function passes after the TinyGo passes and
after the module has been verified so most likely it is a bug somewhere
in LLVM.

Ayke van Laethem 9a54ee4241 compiler: allow larger-than-int values to be sent across a channel
Instead of storing the value to send/receive in the coroutine promise,
store only a pointer in the promise. This simplifies the code a lot and
allows larger value sizes to be sent across a channel.

Unfortunately, this new system has a code size impact. For example,
compiling testdata/channel.go for the BBC micro:bit, there is an
increase in code size from 4776 bytes to 4856 bytes. However, the
improved flexibility and simplicity of the code should be worth it. If
this becomes an issue, we can always refactor the code at a later time.

Ayke van Laethem 46d5ea8cf6 compiler: support returning values from async functions
This is implemented as follows:

  * The parent coroutine allocates space for the return value in its
    frame and stores a pointer to this frame in the parent coroutine
    handle.
  * The child coroutine obtains the alloca from its parent using the
    parent coroutine handle. It then stores the result value there.
  * The parent value reads the data from the alloca on resumption.

  * Channels with values bigger than int. An int in TinyGo can always
    contain at least a pointer, so pointers are okay to send.
  * Buffered channels.
  * The select statement.

Ayke van Laethem 602c264749 all: rewrite goroutine lowering
Before this commit, goroutine support was spread through the compiler.
This commit changes this support, so that the compiler itself only
generates simple intrinsics and leaves the real support to a compiler
pass that runs as one of the TinyGo-specific optimization passes.

The biggest change, that was done together with the rewrite, was support
for goroutines in WebAssembly for JavaScript. The challenge in
JavaScript is that in general no blocking operations are allowed, which
means that programs that call time.Sleep() but do not start goroutines
also have to be scheduled by the scheduler.

Ayke van Laethem 2a20c0c7f0 all: rewrite sleep function
time.Sleep now compiles on all systems, so lets use that.
Additionally, do a few improvements in time unit handling for the
scheduler. This should lead to somewhat longer sleep durations without
wrapping (on some platforms).

Some examples got smaller, some got bigger. In particular, code using
the scheduler got bigger and the blinky1 example got smaller (especially
on Arduino: 380 -> 314 bytes).

easier. A scheduler is difficult so make it easy to debug.

Ayke van Laethem 74bd378c29 Replace _llvm_* workaround in the scheduler with //go:linkname
This also removes the need for the _llvm_ special case in the compiler.
And it makes the scheduler code a whole lot nicer!
