The USB device is attached to the bus automatically during startup,
before user code has a chance to finish its USB configuration (device
identifiers, extra HID interfaces, ...). Composite devices such as
keyboards may therefore be enumerated by the host with an incomplete
configuration.
Attach and Detach expose the soft-connect control (DP pull-up) so that
an application or library can detach in an init function, complete its
configuration, and attach again to let the host enumerate the finished
device. They can also be used to force re-enumeration without
replugging the cable.
Implemented for atsamd21, atsamd51, nrf52840, rp2040 and rp2350.
Implement SetStallEPIn, SetStallEPOut, ClearStallEPIn, and ClearStallEPOut methods on the nRF52840 USBDevice struct using the hardware EPSTALL register to support MSC driver requirements. Also, correct the handleUSBIRQ loops to iterate over physical endpoint numbers rather than dynamic configuration entries to prevent missed or incorrectly routed endpoint interrupts.
Remove the sendUSBPacket maxLen param because this greatly confused the compiler.
It also fixes a bug where the length provided to the hardware may not match the length of the packet.
sendUSBPacket now panics if the sent packet is too big.
I also fixed some of the string descriptor logic where we could create a packet without fully populating it.
RP2* systems might require some more work since they are implemented very differently?
I don't have any of those to test with yet, so maybe someone can deal with them in a seperate PR?
Do it all at once in preparation for Go 1.18 support.
To make this commit, I've simply modified the `fmt-check` Makefile
target to rewrite files instead of listing the differences. So this is a
fully mechanical change, it should not have introduced any errors.
Make the USBCDC use a pointer receiver everywhere. This makes it easier
to pass around the object in the future.
This commit sometimes changes code size, but not significantly (a few
bytes) and usually in a positive way.
My eventual goal is the following:
- Declare `machine.USB` (or similar, name TBD) as a pointer receiver
for the USB-CDC interface.
- Let `machine.UART0` always point to an UART, never actually to a
USBCDC object.
- Define `machine.Serial`, which is either a real UART or an USB-CDC,
depending on the board.
This way, if you want a real UART you can use machine.UARTx and if you
just want to print to the default serial port, you can use
machine.Serial.
This change does have an effect on code size and memory consumption.
There is often a small reduction (-8 bytes) in RAM consumption and an
increase in flash consumption.
